FOCUS ON VOCATIONS

Please pray that God will raise up vocations
from among our faithful here on Long Island!

How much do YOU know about the vocational options
available to men and women in the Byzantine Catholic Church?

You can learn a lot about the Byzantine Catholic Seminary

that trains our priests and deacons here: www.bcs.edu

Remember Fr. Jerome, who gave our Lenten mission last year?  His religious community is the Byzantine Franciscan Friars in Sybertsville PA: http://hdbfm.com.  (+Metropolitan Basil and Bishop William were also Byzantine Franciscans.)

The Basilian Fathers in Glen Cove, who regularly help us out
as substitute priests and confessors, are another Byzantine
monastic community of men with a long history.  Learn more
about them and take a virtual tour of their amazing North Shore
monastery here:
www.stjosbm.org

Holy Resurrection Monastery is a traditional Byzantine Catholic monastic community for men: http://hrmonline.org

There are two traditional monastic communities for women:

Christ the Bridegroom Community, Burton OH

(Eparchy of Parma)

http://christthebridegroom.blogspot.com

Holy Theophany  Monastery, Olympia WA (Romanian Eparchy of St George): http://holytheophanymonastery.org.

The Sisters of Saint Basil the Great (remember Sr. Barbara Jean
from two years ago?) are an important order of religious women;
their monastery in Uniontown PA is the site of our largest annual
pilgrimage: www.sistersofstbasil.org.

The Sisters of St Basil also have a contemplative monastery in Middletown NY:  www.basiliannuns.org.

The Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, located in Sloatsburg NY, are another Byzantine Catholic order of religious women: http://ssmi-us.org.  See?  There’s a lot more going on in our Church than you realized!
